The short version
We collect the details of your immigration case so we can work out which escalation steps are available to you and when. We email you when a date arrives. We do not sell your data, we do not advertise to you, and we do not share your case with anyone outside the services listed below that are needed to run the product.
Immigration data is sensitive. We treat it that way, and this page says exactly what happens to it rather than describing the internet in general.
Who we are
MoveMyCase is operated by Five Twenty Labs LLC, a Delaware limited liability company doing business as MoveMyCase. You can reach us at hello@movemycase.com.
MoveMyCase is software, not a law firm, and nothing here is legal advice.
What we collect
When you use the free checker
- The family relationship your petition is based on, and whether it involves an adoption.
- The date USCIS received your petition, or the date you filed if that is all you know.
- For categories that wait in the visa queue, your priority date and your country of chargeability.
- Whether a deadline is attached to your wait, what kind, and its date if you give one.
- Whether you have already filed a service request, and when.
- Your answers to the fourteen complexity questions, stored so we can show you why you were routed to a lawyer rather than to software.
- Your browser timezone, so that dates and emails land correctly.
When you save your case
- Your email address.
- If you choose to sign in with Google, Google confirms your identity to us. We receive your email address, not your Google password.
Automatically
- A session cookie that keeps you signed in. See our cookie policy.
- Standard server logs kept by our hosting and database providers, which include IP addresses.
What we deliberately do not collect
- Your receipt number. We used to ask for it. We stopped on 14 August 2026 because it no longer earned its place, and asking a stranger for a government identifier is a cost we will not impose without a clear benefit.
- Your USCIS account login. We will never ask for the credentials to your government accounts, and you should never give them to any service that asks.
- Payment details. Payments are handled by Stripe, a payment processor; your card details never touch our servers.
- Advertising measurement. While we run ads on Reddit and Google, their measurement tags tell us whether an ad brought you here and whether a purchase happened; they never see the content of your case. Details in the cookie policy. For analytics we use Microsoft Clarity with strict masking: what you type and the text shown on your pages is blanked before anything is stored, so the content of your case never appears in recordings. We never tell Clarity who you are. See the cookie policy for details.
Why we use it
- To compute your dates. This is the product, and it cannot work without your case details.
- To email you when a date arrives or is a week away. You can unsubscribe from these at any time.
- To keep the complexity gate honest, which means keeping a record of the answers that triggered it.
- To understand, in aggregate, how many people finish the checker and how many want the paid product. This is counted, never sold.
Who else touches your data
We use a small number of providers to run the service. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- Supabase hosts our database and handles sign-in. Your case details live there.
- Resend delivers our email. They receive your email address and the contents of the messages we send you.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with a Google account.
- Vercel serves the website itself.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We have never done so.
We will disclose data if the law requires it. If that ever happens and we are permitted to tell you, we will.
Where your data is held
Our providers store data in the United States. If you are outside that region, your information is transferred there in order to provide the service.
How long we keep it
While your account exists, we keep your case so we can keep watching your dates. That is the whole point of saving it.
If you start the checker without saving your case, an anonymous record of your answers is kept for 30 days, so you can come back and pick up where you left off. After that, abandoned anonymous cases and their sign-ins are deleted automatically. Save your case with your email and it stays for as long as your account does.
Ask us to delete your data and we will delete your account, your cases, your answers, your computed dates and your email records. Until a self-serve button exists, email hello@movemycase.com and we will do it by hand within 30 days, and confirm when it is done.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy. Email hello@movemycase.com.
If you are in Canada
Canadian privacy law gives you the right to access and correct your personal information, and to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you are not satisfied with our response.
If you are in California
You have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share your personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the right exists and we will honour it. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
How we protect it
- Every case row is protected at the database level so that one account cannot read another account's data. This is enforced by the database, not only by our code, and it is covered by an automated test that tries to break it.
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers.
- Access to production data is limited to authorized members of our development and data team, under confidentiality obligations.
No service can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects your data, we will tell you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.
Children
MoveMyCase is for adults filing or waiting on immigration petitions. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. A petition may of course concern a child; that is information about them provided by an adult, not an account for them.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will email you before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
